We report a case of gastric outlet obstruction due to intraduodenal migration of a retained surgical gauze in a 40- year-old woman, following laparoscopic cholecystectomy. This obstruction was completely relieved following laparoscopic removal of the gauze. Notably in this intraluminal migration there was no evidence of perforation, fistula, hemorrhage or peritonitis. This is the first case reported in world literature of intraduodenal migration of a retained surgical gauze as cause of gastric outlet obstruction following laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
